07 Mar Team Odyssey Takes Schweitzer Snow Trip

This weekend, Team Odyssey (older kids and advanced level) and members of Odyssey (younger kids and beginners) spent the weekend at Board member Janet Goebel’s family cabin up at Schweitzer Mountain in Sandpoint, Idaho. The first day, we spent the afternoon snowboarding and skiing. Some of the children had the chance to snowboard for the first time! This challenged them to be proactive and adventurous. After the long day on the mountain, we learned about 3 Habits from ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens’ by Sean Covey. This is a personal development course that each of the children will go through during their high school years. The last part of our night we watched the Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Our last day, we snowshoed up Schweitzer with Mrs. Goebel. This was a very challenging hike, but everyone made it up to the top to see the gorgeous view of the resort and to see that all of our hard work paid off. The best part of that hike was being able to slide down the mountain! The two days were focused on challenging our youth through trust, strength and resilience.
